COATING COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF CAN INSIDE COATING

A coating composition which comprises: (A) an epoxy resin which has a number-average molecular weight of 2,500 to 10,000 and is a product of the reaction of (a) a specific low-molecular cresol-novolak epoxy resin with (b) a specific low-molecular cresol-novolak phenolic resin; and (B) at least one hardener selected from the group consisting of (c) specific phenolic resins and (d) specific amino resins, the proportions of the epoxy resin (A) and the hardener (B) on a solid basis being 60 to 98 wt.% and 40 to 2 wt.%, respectively, based on the total amount of both. Also provided is a method of coating the inside of a can with the coating composition.
