METHOD FOR HANDLING NUCLEAR WASTE FROM A NUCLEAR FACILITY AND TRANSPORT AND/OR STORAGE CONTAINER FOR WASTE OF THIS TYPE

A method for handling nuclear waste from a nuclear facility should permit, with a comparably low level of complexity and a high degree of versatility, a reliable and secure disposal of waste elements also those of a comparatively high level of radioactivity. To this end, a number of fuel elements (20), especially burned down fuel elements (20), of a nuclear reactor are transferred together with a number of built-in parts of the nuclear facility that need to be disposed of into a common transport and/or storage container (1). A transport and/or storage container (1) particularly suited for use in this method comprises an interior space (4). A number of first compartments (12) for accommodating fuel elements (20) of a nuclear reactor and a number of second compartments (14) for accommodating built-in parts of the nuclear facility that need to be disposed of are provided inside this interior space.
