An electrode for a spark-erosive removal process is assembled from several electrically conducting segments (10-14). It comprises a contoured segment that is clamped between clamping segments and protrudes from these. The contoured segment consists of a foil or electrically good-conducting material. The foil has a thickness of between 0.005 millimeter and 1 millimeter. The protruding end of the foil has a size that can amount to twenty times the foil thickness. The contoured segment has an arbitrary, especially curved and/or stepped, shape. The clamping segments have a corresponding shape. The contoured segment protrudes over the longitudinal extent with different distances from the clamping segments.
