The method involves using the action of a moving granular material (18) on the object. A turbulent layer that envelops the object is produced from the granular material by using an air flow. The object is placed on a bearer (11) that passes the granular material; at least some of the material is raised by the air flow through the bearer to above it. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of drying and/or polishing objects.
