<p>An exhaust gas purifying catalyst compound which is represented by a rational formula: (NH4)xMo2VxO(3x+6)(wherein x is 2.8 to 3.2) and has a V/Mo atomic ratio of 3/2; and a method for preparing the catalyst compound, characterized as comprising reacting molybdenum oxide (MoO3) with ammonium metavanadate (NH4VO3) in the presence of water for a specific period of time. The catalyst is prepared without employing the activation by firing, which has been the obstacle to achieving high catalyst activity in the prior art, while realizing satisfactory complex formation of V and Mo, and thus is markedly enhanced in activity, especially at a low temperature, and also in durability.</p> |
