A communication system (KS) is connected (ASL) to a number of peripherals (RE). Within the system, interface modules (AM) match the system to the peripherals. Information is transferred in the form of cell packets, each of which handled by a central controller (ZS). The packets have start and end information that is used to control the coupling field (KF). This provides the correct set up of the exchange resource between the units of the communication system.
