<p>An optical pulse generator comprises a ring optical path including an optical fiber (30) doped with a rare earth element, a pumping light source (32) for inputting a pumping light pulse for pumping the optical fiber (30) into the optical fiber (30), an optical demultiplexer (38) for demultiplexing the circulating optical pulse circulating over the ring optical path and outputting an output optical pulse, and a photodetector (40) for detecting the circulating optical pulse circulating over the ring optical path and thereby producing a signal representing the intensity of the circulating optical pulse and the timing at which the optical pulse is generated. In such a way, an optical pulse generator requiring no bothersome device control is provided without using any expensive optical components, and an optical pulse test instrument and method using such an optical pulse generator are provided.</p> |
