PURPOSE: A file modification method is provided to divide an original file in RIP(Raster Image Processing) into a small sized file for a modification operation, to read the small sized file, and to modify the small sized file so that it can enhance a work efficiency. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of opening a postscript file(S12), performing a RIP operation on the postscript file(S14), generating an original RIP operation image file, and at the same time, an RIP operation image file reduced with a certain ratio(S16), checking modification parts in the reduced RIP operation image file by using a typesetting program, i.e. HariXpress(S18), determining if modification parts exist at the reduced RIP operation image file(S20), modifying corresponding parts at the reduced RIP operation image file in the case that the modification parts exist(S22), and outputting the modified parts on the original postscript file(S24). The original RIP operation image file and the reduced one have a kind of TIFF file format.
