A device for the compensation of bearing forces for machines with a shaft that is acted upon by an axially working force, is described. At one shaft end is provided a counter-pressure bearing for the subjugation of the shaft to an axially working counter-force whose size corresponds preferably equally to that of the force. It is employed for crankshafts of IC engines, preferably with a hydraulically working release bearing, a transmitter cylinder and a receiver cylinder plus a lever transmission effective between release bearing and receiver cylinder. The axially working force is a pressure force engaging at one shaft end and the counter-pressure bearing is attached at the other shaft end.
