The invention concerns a method for packaging liquid products in thin-walled packages providing said packages with good mechanical strength which consists in introducing in the liquid, using an injector (22), an inert gas such as nitrogen, and/or carbon dioxide, in gaseous phase, wherewith the liquid is saturated or supersaturated, storing the resulting product in a reservoir (14), at a constant level above which is generated a blanket of said gas at constant excess pressure, using regulating means. The product is transferred at will by tapping means (4), to packages which are partly filled with product whereof, after the package is sealed, the surface is topped with a blanket of said excess pressure gas. The invention is useful for packaging liquids in particular food liquids.
