<p>A pre-assembled block of bags for rapid packaging of articles consists of a number of adjacent bags formed from oriented plastic film of longitudinal weldless tube arranged in flat form so that their opposing walls are in contact, welded transversely at one end and open at the other end, a series of coincident holes in the opposing walls being provided near the open end so as to form a continuous opening throughout the block, the holes having reinforced edges integral with the bag in order to avoid splitting. An oblong element passes through the holes in order to fix the bags in the form of a block. The bags may be formed from lay flat tubing of oriented polyolefins or biaxially oriented polyvinylidene chloride. The reinforced zones of the holes may be of non-oriented plastics and may adhere to one another. A tendency for the plastic material to shear between the holes and the open end of the bags is advantageous. The bags are easily formed, assembled and filled.</p> |
