The process and installation for treatment of purin in cattle-raising establishments involves purin being deposited in a pond or pit (1) which is impermeable and tight, being sealed by a cover (2) and in which anaerobic fermentation is produced, which generates gases with a high content of hydrogen sulphide. The gases are extracted by an impulsion pump (7), which delivers them to a scrubber (8), in which they are washed to eliminate the hydrogen sulphide, using reactants coming from a preparatory unit (9), in which water is mixed with potassium permanganate. After access to the scrubber via small mouthpieces (11), the hydrogen sulphide is transformed into sulphate and sulphur, eliminating the odors of the bio-gas.
