A technique for forming by gas-route pyrolysis of a coating based on silicon, oxygen and carbon at the surface of a moving glass substrate (10) from a gaseous precursor mixture essentially devoid of oxidising compound and precursor essentially devoid of oxidising compound and comprising a silane and an ethylenic compound, so that the time of contact between this precursor mixture and the glass is maintained at a value higher than that needed for the deposition of the said coating if the latter were carried out by starting from a gaseous precursor mixture containing an oxidising agent. The coating thus obtained has a refractive index of between 1.45 and 2, preferably between 1.6 and 1.9, and above all its thickness reaches values greater than 50 nm. …<IMAGE>… |
