EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT ENCLOSURE FOR ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT

A unitized monocoque enclosure for housing electronic equipment, as in a communications system central office, has side (10, 11), top (12) and bottom (13) panels of corrugated metal. The panels comprise a continuous envelope f or the structure and themselves constitute the structural support for electroni c equipment shelves (33) and the electronic equipment (34) mounted thereby, which shelves are supported by screw members (35) directly into a corrugatio n of the side panels (10, 11). No additional uprights, frame supports or brace s are utilized. The resultant structure is both simple to fabricate and achiev es improved earthquake resistance.
