PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quicken user mutual authentication between a client and a server in a client/server system through an internet or an intra-net. SOLUTION: In the first connection from a client 1 to a server 2, a public key of the opposite party is mutually used and a random number and common key information for authentication are encrypted and exchanged with each other to make mutual authentication and both parties decide which authentication random number and common key are used in succeeding communication. Furthermore, the random number and the common key for the authentication are stored in storage means 17, 27 of the client side and the server side. In the case of connection between the same client 1 and server 2 at and after the 2nd times, the random number for authentication having been stored is encrypted by using the common key and exchanged to mutually authenticate whether or not they are the same opposite parties. |
