PURPOSE:To make it possible to make a local electrochemical reaction occur on the surface of a sample just below a probe and simultaneously to measure a tunneling microscope image by providing a counter electrode and the probe in an integrated structure. CONSTITUTION:A sample 2, a reference electrode 3 and an electrode 1 in which a counter electrode and a probe are integrated are disposed in an electrochemical cell 4 and a solution 5 is put in it. A local electrochemical reaction on a surface just below the probe is controlled by a sample/probe potential controlling and current detecting part. Simultaneously, scanning of the probe is controlled by a three X-Y-Z axes control mechanism 6 and an X-Y axes controlling and Z axis controlling part, STM measurement is executed and a tunneling microscope image is obtained by an image processing part. |
