The device for height adjustment of a head, back or foot part of a slatted frame or item of furniture for recumbent use has a guide (4) provided for a guide member (8) connected to a retainer for the part to be adjusted. The guide is formed as a groove-shaped recess forming a closed guide circuit in a support (5) of the slatted frame. At the bottom the guide has a securing rail (9) and a the top a back guide rail (11), which are connected by a guide channel (10). The mouth of the guide channel in the back guide rail is held closed by a closure component (20) with a sprung rib (21). This enables the guide member raised out of the highest securing position (18) to slide back without problem into the lowest secured position.
