Products which are transported by conveyor belts are cut by controlling the transport of two or more feeding conveyors in relation to each other and effecting the cutting-up or cutting-off of the process by a cutting process which is common for the feeding conveyors. Control of the transportation is carried so that cutting-up or cutting-off can be effected at the desired cut positions. - Cutting up of products that are transported by two conveyor belts involves controlling the transport of two or more feeding conveyors in relation to each other and effecting the cutting-up or cutting-off of the process by a cutting process which is common for the conveyors. There is effected a detection of the size and/or volume and/or mass of the products, as well as determination of the desired cut positions. Control of the transportation is carried so that cutting-up or cutting-off can be effected at the desired cut positions. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for an apparatus for the process, including transport line such as conveyor belt, detection unit for the size and/or volume and/or mass of the products, cutting aggregate for cutting the products into portions, and two or more feeding conveyors. The feeding conveyor is driven in such a manner that the transport speed can be controlled.
