<p>The spinning machine, and especially a ring spinner with a number of spinning stations, has sliver drawing units (11) for each station with condensing zones. A twist blocking roller (15) is at the end of the condensing zone (12) away from the final press roller (14) of the drawing unit. The mantle surface of the twist blocking roller has a soft elasticity. The twist blocking roller is rotated slightly slower or faster than the surface speed of the condensing drum (13), so that the drawn and condensed sliver (17) is slightly compressed or relaxed or drafted through the slip between the drum and the roller.
