A cradle for restraining and supporting an animal, such as sheep is disclosed. Opposite side members (11, 12) are mounted on a support structure (4), and a flexible support (23) extends between the side members and is shaped to receive the body of an animal for treatment. Resilient edge means (24, 25) extends upwardly and inwardly from the side members (11,12). The animal is restrained by the side members (11, 12), the flexible support (23) and the edge means (24, 25) when the side members (11,12) are in a closed position, while leaving those portions of the animal requiring treatment accessible.
