A lock for a sliding door with a pivoting hook 24 that extends within a hollow carriage 22 from the lock body 17, when the locking lever 48 is turned clockwise, and pivots out of the carriage 22 to engage with the rear of the strike plate 28 and lock the door. After turning the locking lever 48 counter-clockwise the hook 24 pivots to its original orientation within the carriage 22 and retracts into the door 12. A pull tab 36 with a gripping flange 38 allows the user to manually pull the door 12 toward the closed position.
