<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control apparatus device and a control method for internal combustion engine, capable of improving the service life of the hydrocarbon oxidizing catalyst (for example, methane oxidizing catalyst) which is interposed in the exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine, such as a lean combustion type gas engine. SOLUTION: When controlling the operation of an internal combustion engine 10, having the hydrocarbon oxidizing catalyst (for example, methane oxidizing catalyst 40) which is interposed in an exhaust pipe 15, the internal combustion engine is operated by the lean/rich selecting operation for selecting the operating condition with the air-fuel mixture including the rich fuel supplied to the internal combustion engine 10 and the operating condition with the air-fuel mixture including the lean fuel with the prescribed interval and the periodical regeneration with the high-temperature exhaust gas.</p> |
