PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication adapter capable of inexpensively connecting facsimile equipment through a network to an arbitrary computer, and transferring data between them. SOLUTION: This communication adapter transfers data between facsimile equipment B connected to a public telephone line 28 and arbitrary computers C1 and C2 connected to an LAN. Transfer of a communication control command is provided with a port 5 for communication connection to be connected to the facsimile equipment B, and a port 6 for network connection to be connected to a hub H on the LAN. A microprocessor 1 receives communication data transmitted from the public telephone line 28 through the port 5 for communication connection, converts the received facsimile transmission and reception data into frame data to be transferred with the computers C1 and C2, and transmits the converted frame data through the port 6 for network connection.
