PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shoe holding mechanism for a drum brake which can be easily and securely assembled and dismantled without requiring a special dedicated tool in assembling a brake shoe to a backing plate. SOLUTION: In this shoe holding mechanism 8 for a drum brake for slidably holding the brake shoe 6 to the backing plate(BP) 18, the shoe holding mechanism 8 is composed of a hold-down spring 14 to elastically press the brake shoe 6 toward the BP side, and a hold-down pin 16 to lock the hold-down spring 14 to the BP 18. A flat head part 16a of the hold-down pin is detachably locked by rotation of a slit 14b-1 of the hold-down spring and the hold-down pin 16.
