<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating chromium oxide-containing dust in a heating furnace with which the metallic chromium is recovered as chromium-containing molten iron from the chromium oxide-containing dust discharged from various kinds of refining furnaces in an iron-making process and also, the chromium content in the finish slag produced can be reduced into <=1 wt.% being a harmless level to the environment. SOLUTION: A mixture consisting essentially of the chromium oxide- containing dust, carbonaceous material and slag-making agent, is continuously charged into the heating furnace 11 controlled to 1,300-1,700 deg.C atmospheric temperature. The chromium oxide-containing dust in the mixture is melted and reduced with the carbonaceous material in the mixture to produce the molten iron 22 containing the metallic chromium, and further, the chromium oxide content in the produced finish slag is controlled to <=1 wt.%.</p> |
