PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio receiver and its receiving method in which broadcast can be received surely even after auto presetting is carried out. SOLUTION: When a broadcasting station receivable in FM band and AM band is detected in a radio receiver for FM band and AM band and having an auto presetting function, one broadcasting station preset in the receiving band of FM is stored as an FM default station and one broadcasting station preset in the receiving band of AM is stored as an AM default station. Upon finishing auto presetting, any one of FM default station or AM default station is received depending on a selected receiving band.
