PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly accurate calibration method in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: For each of color materials (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) which are used for image formation, a first calibration (steps S1 to S4) is carried out based upon a color pattern 1 in which a color patch group for increasing (or decreasing) a writing value by a predetermined amount is disposed for each color. Based upon the first calibration, the writing values for the color materials cyan, magenta, and yellow are corrected. Based upon a color pattern 2 consisting of three color superimposition color patch groups, which are formed by superimposing color patch groups formed in accordance with the correction data, second calibration is performed (steps S5 to S10). |
