PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a free stop device for a door having little wear at a stop mechanism part, withstanding long-term and frequent use and facilitating the adjustment of stop force. SOLUTION: This free stop device for the door is composed of a body part 11 mounted to either one of a pendulum support 12 provided in a horizontally slidable manner inside the body part 11; and a pendulum 14 with the nearly upper end journalled to the lateral length direction center part of the pendulum support 12 through a pin 13 and with the lower end abutting on the rail 3. An inclined oblong hole 21 is formed in the lateral length direction center part of the pendulum support 12, and a vertical oblong hole 19 is formed in the lateral length direction center part of the pendulum support 12. Both ends of the pin 13 are positioned at the intersection part of the inclined oblong hole 21 and vertical oblong hole 19, and an adjusting screw 22 is provided for horizontally sliding the pendulum support 12.
