PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add a musical tone reproducing function with which the reproduction of an arbitrary sampling rate is possible to an apparatus, such as a speech codec DSP in a portable telephone, restricted in the operating period. SOLUTION: The musical tone output data to be formed within a period is formed in a sound source task 26 for melody signaling an incoming call to be activated at the prescribed period and is written at a time into an FIFO buffer 28. A required number of the data are successively read out of the FIFO buffer 28 in a sampling frequency conversion task 30 activated according to the sampling rate of the musical tones and are subjected to sampling frequency conversion computation. The results thereof are outputted.
