The battery is free to move along a hollow tube under its own inertia, to generate supplementary electricity. A rack under the battery drives pinions (11,11') which drive flywheels coupled to electric generators. Levers (18) attenuate shocks through arms (20,21) connected to dampers (25,26). When the battery is spent, it can be removed from the tube and a charged battery inserted in its place.
