PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of making a display screen satisfactorily bright when displaying is performed by utilizing external light and obtaining display having satisfactory contrast as a display device performing both of the reflection display utilizing the external light and the reflection display utilizing illumination light from a light source. SOLUTION: In the display device provided with a reflection type display panel 10, a light guiding plate 12 to be transferred to a front side of the display panel 10 and to a position retreated from the front side of the display panel 10 and the light source 14 disposed opposite to the position of the incident end surface 12a of the light guide plate 12 when the light guide plate 12 is transferred to the front side of the display panel 10, the reflection display utilizing the external light is performed in the state that the light guide plate 12 is transferred to the position retreated from the front side of the display panel 10 and the reflection display utilizing the illumination light from the light source 14 is performed in the state that the light guide plate 12 is transferred to the front side of the display panel 10. |
