PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of performing display in which movement blur is prevented without incurring the reduction of luminance at the time of displaying a moving picture and capable of suppressing wasteful power consumption without incurring picture degradation such as flicker. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a back light control circuit 56 variably controlling the display luminance of a liquid crystal display panel part 44 by controlling the luminance of a back light 52 based on whether a picture to be displayed on the panel part 44 is a moving picture or a still picture and an LCD(liquid crystal display) controller 42 making a part or the whole of the moving picture to be monochromatic display for a prescribed time when the picture to be displayed on the panel part 44 is the moving picture.
