PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct more efficient recovery operations in an ATS-P system. SOLUTION: This automatic-train stop apparatus generates on a train a speed-checking pattern, that treats a given stop point as a stop position when a signal is received via a wayside coil, when a signal device in front displays 'stop', and controls the operation of the train based on the generated speed- checking pattern. This apparatus consists of a transmitting means that transmits the displayed signal of the signal device to the track, on which the train is running; a receiving means provided on the train to receive via the track the displayed signal transmitted by the transmitting means, and a speed-checking pattern changing means, which when the train is operated on a given speed- checking pattern generated and the receiving means receives an upper display signal, changes the given speed-checking pattern into a given speed-checking pattern corresponding to the upper display signal.
