Vang base with fixed tang and pivoting cleat arm

A boom vang base for a sailing craft permits the lead line through the cam cleat to be aligned with the sailor irrespective of the boom angle. For rotating masts 54 the cam cleat 60 is mounted on an arm 56 that is pivoted at 61 to the vang fitting 52 attached to the mast. For fixed masts 54', the vang base 52' is pivotally attached to the mast at 300 so that the lower block 58' can follow the boom angle to prevent tangling of the lines 66', and the cam cleat is in turn pivotally mounted on the vang base at 61' to allow ready cleating from any direction of the lead line 68'.
