PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a semiconductor device to perform a normal operation even if an undefined input signal is inputted to a mode register for setting an operation mode. SOLUTION: The semiconductor device, which selects one mode among operation modes of N pieces by an input signal and is operated by the selected operation mode, comprises a selection circuit for selecting one mode when an input signal shows one mode among operation modes of N pieces and selecting the prescribed one mode among operation modes of N pieces when the input signal is the undefined input signal showing the operation mode other than operation modes of N pieces, and an internal circuit to be operated in accordance with the operation mode selected by the selection circuit.
