PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make inputtable characters through a simple operation using a limited number of operating elements by applying a character input device, a character input method, and a recording medium where the character input method is recorded to a portable terminal where information of, for example, a personal computer is downloaded and confirmed. SOLUTION: Characters which can be inputted are grouped and displayed as a list and after a group is selected through the operation of operating elements, a choice of a desired character in the group is accepted.
