PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film feeding device for a camera by which troublesomeness in film loading operation is eliminated and a good feeling in use is obtained. SOLUTION: This film feeding device for a camera 1 to attachably dispose a film cassette 2 provided with a take-up shaft 11 round which film 7 is wound and having a leader part 7b projected from a feeding port 2a is equipped with a feeding means 9 for feeding the film toward a take-up spool 22 side, a take-up means for taking up the film, detection means 28 and 29 for detecting failure in feeding operation by the feeding means or take-up operation by the take-up means, a rewinding means 25 for rewinding the film to a specified position again when the detection means detects the failure in the feeding operation or the take-up operation, the 1st detection means 29 for detecting the leading edge of the film in the midst of rewinding operation by the rewinding means, the 2nd detection means 28 arranged nearer to the take-up means side than the means 29 and detecting perforation in the midst of the rewinding operation by the rewinding means and a control means 21 for controlling the rewinding speed of the rewinding means in accordance with the detected results by the 1st and the 2nd detection means.
