PURPOSE: A geographical information providing terminal system having a map painting function and a method thereof are provided, which provide corrected geographical information to a geographical information requester, by adding more detailed geographical information through a map painting browser. CONSTITUTION: The geographical information service system comprises a geographical information providing server(100), a database(200) and a number of user geographical providing terminals(300). The geographical information providing server performs a function of transmitting map information of a desired region by scanning the database in response to a request of a user terminal(300aa). The database stores data information, and the user terminal(300) exchange information with other terminals(200a,300f,300p) through a communication network, and includes all terminals which are accessed to the geographical information providing server through the communication network. The terminal has a map painting browser within, and comprises all functions which are provided to the geographical information requester, by adding detailed geographical information onto the prior map information.
