PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for driving a luminescent panel capable of preventing the reduction of the light emission luminance and the erroneous luminescence of an EL(electroluminescence) element due to the temperature change and the secular change. SOLUTION: In this device and method for driving a luminescent panel, one scanning line is selected from among plural scanning lines in accordance with the scanning timing of input display data and driving lines corresponding to capacitive light emitting elements which are made to emit light on the one scanning line in accordance with the input display data are specified and a first prescribed potential is applied to the one scanning line and a second prescribed potential higher than the first prescribed potential is applied to scanning lines other than the one scanning line and a driving current or a driving voltage is supplied to specified driving lines so that a positive voltage equal to or higher than a light emitting threshold voltage is applied to the capacitive light emitting elements which are made to emit light in a forward direction and a third prescribed potential lower than the light emitting threshold voltage is applied to driving lines other than the specified driving lines and forward voltages or forward currents of the capacitive light emitting elements are detected and then the level of the second prescribed potential is changed in accordance with the change of the forward voltages or the forward currents. |
