PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that can effectively utilize a data bus width W. SOLUTION: The image processing unit is provided with serial image data input means SBU(Sensor Board Unit), IPP(Image Processing Processor), and CDIC (Compression/expansion Interface Control section), a means 49 that enters a feature signal denoting a feature of image data, a means 60 that converts image information consisting of the image data and the feature signal into N×M block parallel data (N is number of pixels in the main scanning direction and M is number of lines in the subscanning direction), a means 40/MEM that stores the N×M parallel data in one address, a means 88 of a means 80 that revises the N×M block size depending on the data bus width W of the storage means, and a means 70 that inverts the N×M parallel data read from the storage means into the serial image data and the feature signal. |
