<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing adjusting device, capable of securing stable engine startability by fitting a lock pin into a fitting hole during cranking, when restaring an engine and restricting a rotor, even in an unrestricted state of the rotor, when stopping the engine. SOLUTION: The fitting hole 8 fitted with a tip part of the lock pin 7a of the lock mechanism 7 therein, when the rotor 3 is located at the most delayed angle position, is formed on an outer peripheral part P of a boss part 3a of the rotor 3. A step part 9, which connects to the fitting hole 8, is lower than the outer peripheral part P of the boss part 3a of the rotor 3 but is higher than a bottom part of the fitting hole 8 is formed at a position deviated from the fitting hole 8 to an advance angle side. A taper 10 is formed at the boundary of the step part 9 and the outer peripheral part P of the boss part 3a of the rotor 3. A taper 11, which is shorter than the length of the taper 10 but larger in inclination angle, is formed at the boundary part of the fitting hole 8 and the step part 9.</p> |
