PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for constituting a prototype data processing system by constituting a hardware-development chip(HDC) according to user- defined settings, structuring user-defined logic which functions on the constituted development chip, and making it possible to reconstitute the HDC and user- defined logic after debugging. SOLUTION: The HDC has multiple data processing macros including a processor core macro, a ROM emulation macro, a memory macro, and a bus macro. The macros can be constituted by constitution pion blocks connected to external constitution pins on the HDC. Customer's logic is structured by using field programmable gate arrays interconnected by external ports of the HDC. The HDC and customer's logic are inspected by using debug ports on the HDC connected to a debug workstation. Consequently, a user can easily and speedily debug an application-specific integrated circuit(ASIC) with the unique version of a selected processor core. |
