PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in a conventional tensioner that the number of part items such as bolts is increased because a torsion coil spring is used as a compression spring, and a friction plate is inserted in a clearance between a boss part of an arm and a pressing plate, and press-abutted on the boss part and the pressing plate by the fastening force of the bolt and the extension restoring force of the torsion coil spring. SOLUTION: The torsion coil spring 20 is locked in a locking groove 22 of a supporting base 6 at its one end locking part 21, and the other end locking part 24 is locked in a locking groove 23 of a basic end boss part 11 to be defined as a tension spring for energizing the basic end boss part 11 and the supporting base 6 in the direction to allow them to be close to each other, which dispenses with the calking work and the parts such the bolt necessary in allowing the friction plate to be press-abutted on the boss part and the pressing plate by the fastening force of the bolt and the extension restoring force of the torsion coil spring in the conventional tensioner.
