PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain KANJI (Chinese character) candidates including desired KANJI even when no tune or a wrong tune is inputted. SOLUTION: Input data in Pin Yin pronunciation and input data in Zhu Yin pronunciation are converted into corresponding sound codes by using a Pin Yin/sound code conversion table 31 and a Zhu Yin/sound code conversion table 32 respectively. A dictionary 35 contains KANJI codes (corresponding to words) so that they correspond to sound code strings. A sound code string is generated from input data. The respective sound codes of the input sound code string and the sound codes of a sound code string in the dictionary 35 are compared with each other through a filter which masks specific bits of sound codes. Through this comparison, the KANJI code corresponding to the matching sound code string is read out of the dictionary 35 and the word (KANJI) corresponding to the KANJI code is displayed. |
