<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape recorder and its control method that can attain sure high-speed program-search at reproduction of information even when the information is recorded in a high density recording mode. SOLUTION: In the case of recording e.g. a TV program in a 3-speed recording mode or 5-speed recording mode, the TV program is recorded only for e.g. 10 seconds in a standard recording mode, and the same program is recorded succeedingly in the 3-speed recording mode or the 5-speed recording mode, and high-speed program-search is conducted by using a CTL (control) signal recorded in the standard recording mode. That is, in the case of conducting the high speed program-search while reading the CTL signal, since the frequency of the CTL signal recorded in the standard recording mode that is clearly different from the frequency of the CTL signal recorded in the 3-speed recording mode or the 5-speed recording mode is detected for a prescribed time, sure program-search can be conducted, Furthermore, in the case of recording a program in the standard recording mode, only a head part of the program is recorded in the 3-speed recording mode or the 5-speed recording mode and then the same program is recorded while the recording mode is restored to the standard recording mode.</p> |
