PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire preventive material for a joint, eliminating a swelling on a back surface even when compressed for installation in a joint part, and fire preventive construction using the fire preventive material. SOLUTION: The hollow fire preventive material 10 is compressed for installation between exterior wall panels 1 and 2 and provided with a shape stabilizing part in the back surface 11b brought into continuous contact with a base 11a. In the material 10, a protrusion 12b compressed longitudinally in a joint part 3 so as to protrude from a front surface is elastically housed in a recessed place 84 in the back surface of a decorative member 8 for covering the joint part 3 in order to allow the fire preventive construction to be formed.
