PURPOSE: An automatic tensioner of a timing belt is provided to elastically support a rod of the automatic tensioner by a spring for reducing the noise generated by the friction between the rod and the timing belt. CONSTITUTION: An automatic tensioner of a timing belt includes a body part(21) formed with a high pressure chamber(22) and a low pressure chamber(23), a piston(24) supported by a lower part of the high pressure chamber and a spring(27) and formed with oil channels(25) at an upper part of the high pressure chamber and a receiving space(26) at an upper part for receiving a rod, and the rod(30) received in the receiving space of the piston by being elastically supported by the spring and formed with a protruded stopper(31) in the center.
