Lifting device comprises an upper frame (11), a lower frame (12), and at least two scissor mechanisms (13, 14) each consisting of two arms (15, 16, 17, 18) connected to each other in the middle of their length via a swiveling hinge. One end (20, 21, 22, 23) of each arm is arranged on one of the frames by a fixed hinge and the other end is arranged on the other frame by a sliding hinge which slides in the longitudinal direction, i.e. perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the swiveling hinges. All scissor mechanisms are connected to each other by a common central swiveling hinge (19).
