The spotlight unit has a housing (1) containing a socket (7) for an electric light source which is rotatable about an axis (II) perpendicular to the beam direction (I), enclosed by a conical reflector (8) rotated with the socket. The reflector projects beyond the edge (4) of the light exit opening (5) in the housing, with its pivot angle limited by the opening edge. The housing has 2 relatively offset positions for the pivot axis of the socket and the reflector.
