Laminated materials for sticking onto a base, especially adhesive labels or wallpaper, comprise a printable substrate coated on the back with a parting agent which undergoes cohesive failure when the label etc. is pulled off, leaving parting agent on the substrate and on the adhesive used for sticking the label to the base. A method for the production of pieces of laminated material with a printable substrate for sticking onto a base, especially adhesive labels or wallpaper. The method involves coating the back side (4) of the substrate (2) (facing the base 6) with a parting agent (5) which undergoes cohesive failure when the material (1) is subsequently pulled off the base (6), leaving the adhesive (8) (used for sticking (1) to the base) covered with a layer (9) of material (5) while the substrate (2) is completely removed along with the remainder (10) of the parting agent. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a method as described above for sticking material (1) (especially labels or wallpaper) on a base; (b) a method for removing (1) (especially labels) from the base by directing a fluid jet onto the parting agent between the back of the label and the adhesive so as to bring about cohesive failure of the parting agent; (c) apparatus for the production of (1), especially strippable labels or wallpaper, comprising devices for applying parting agent to the back of a substrate as described above; (d) a coating material for this application, comprising a parting agent with an internal cohesion which is less than its adhesion to the back of the laminate and to the adhesive used for sticking the material to a base; (e) pieces of material (1), especially adhesive labels or wallpaper, comprising a printable substrate with a parting agent (as above) on the back to facilitate its subsequent removal from a base; (f) objects with pieces of material (1) stuck on them (as in (e)); and (g) a pre-product for the production of (1) comprising a laminated material with a printable substrate in the form of strip or sheet coated on the back with parting agent (5).
